Shopper Question of the Week: “What are the Small Yellow Boxes on My Shop Log?”
July 26, 2010
All kinds of people are getting paid to shop by completing mystery shopping projects. Who makes a successful mystery shopper? There is no such thing as a “typical” mystery shopper. Maybe you’re a student hoping to earn extra money on the side. Maybe you’re a work-at-home mom or dad, struggling actor, or retiree looking for a part-time freelance opportunity. Or maybe you’re a regular traveler with a little extra time on your hands during business trips. Whatever your situation, take a few minutes to learn if mystery shopping is right for you.
If you’re observant, detail-oriented, discreet, and reliable, you’ll be off to a good start as a mystery shopper. Strong written communication skills and a good memory help too. If you like role playing or have a little acting ability, you’ll probably enjoy mystery shopping! Beyond Hello shoppers must be at least 18 years old and have reliable Internet access.
All it takes is a few minutes, and there’s no fee to register. Once registered, you can view the Job Board and see what’s available in your area. You can express interest in a project at any time after registration—whether it’s today, tomorrow, or even a few months from now.
The more information you provide about yourself when you register, the better your chances are to be selected for a project. Our clients determine the criteria for shoppers based on the target demographics for their particular business. And although we need your social security number (U.S. residents only) before we can pay you, you don’t have to provide it until you decide to accept a project. It isn’t required to register or view the Job Board.
After accepting a mystery shop project, we’ll provide you with clear specifications that explain the client’s expectations for the project. You can also prepare yourself by reading our Shopper FAQs and our Helpful Hints for Becoming a Successful Mystery Shopper. Give mystery shopping a try—you have nothing to lose!
