Beyond Hello will NEVER send you checks to cash for a money transfer!
Mystery shopping is a legitimate industry and a great way to earn extra money. However, as in any industry, there are honest and dishonest companies. Watch out for any company that wants you to pay a fee to become a mystery shopper. Also, beware of any project that involves check cashing or money transfers. We NEVER ask shoppers to send us money. If someone posing as a representative of our company ever contacts you with a cashier’s check or any other check or money order, contact us immediately BEFORE you try to cash the check – IT’S A SCAM!
Please watch this series of informative videos about money transfer scams on the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) website. David Vladeck (Director – Bureau of Consumer Protection) does a great job of explaining not only The Mystery Shopper Scam, but also other common money transfer scams such as The Grandparent Scam, The Prize Promotion Scam, and The Counterfeit Check Scam.
Be careful out there!
Thanks for sharing those videos on money transfer scams by the FTC.
I received a telephone call from someone by the name of Derek Boone stating I applied to be a mystery shopper and that he was sending me my assignment packet. A few days later a received a letter and a check drawn on Boon Bank (red flag) for $986. I called the bank as there were too many red flags. The check was drawn on Boone Title Company (red flag). The bank had me fax a copy of the check. They quickly called me back and told me this is a SCAM and ask that I report it to the following government website:
