The day after Thanksgiving is typically considered the official start of the holiday shopping season. “Black Friday,” known for super deals, can start with huge crowds waiting to enter the moment doors open. This can result in great sales volume, but the rushing crowd can turn dangerous when impatient shoppers push their way through to advertised specials. This situation was dramatically illustrated last year when a Walmart employee died as a result of trampling.
To help retailers effectively plan for holiday crowds, the National Retail Federation (NRF) has developed a set of crowd management guidelines and a helpful step-by-step checklist. If you anticipate large crowds in your locations on Black Friday (and we hope you do!) please take a few minutes to review this valuable information.
Best wishes for a safe and prosperous selling season!
